Our Carrier Air Conditioner Models

We carry a great selection of Carrier ACs, each in different sizes to suit different size homes. It’s important to remember that you’ll need a professional to help you select the right air conditioner. The most powerful one on the market won’t necessarily be the best for your home – air conditioners need to match the home size they’re designed for so they don’t overwork and develop problems.

The Infinity Series

Carrier’s best and most energy-efficient air conditioner line, the Infinity series, integrates with Infinity furnaces, air filtration systems and controls to give you the best possible indoor environment. The Infinity control gives you a complete picture of your home’s air system, including performance and energy savings, and even service reminders.

All Infinity air conditioners have:

  • Durable construction with heavy-gauge galvanized steel, baked-on powder coat paint, and WeatherArmor protection. The coil guard is louvered and made of steel as well.
  • Quiet performance thanks to the Silencer System II.

Definitions of Performance Terms and Explanations

Here’s a little more about some of the terms we’ve used in the tables above.

SEER and EER

SEER stands for seasonal energy efficiency ratio, and is a measure of how efficient your AC is performing. It is determined by the cooling power produced (In BTUs, or British thermal units), divided by the electrical power input (in watt-hours). The higher the number, the more efficient it is.

EER stands for energy efficiency ratio. The only difference is that the SEER is a seasonal average of the EER.

These units were created by the independent oversight organization, the AHRI, or Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute.

Please note that Your air conditioner needs to matched with the appropriate indoor air coil components to reach its potential SEER.

Compressor Performance

Having a multi-stage compressor allows your air conditioner to operate at different intensities. The lower stage is more efficient, quieter, and also provides the best dehumidification. The higher stage is helpful for those really hot days when you need more cooling power.

The overall effect of 2-stage cooling is a more even temperature in your entire home.

Scrolling compressors have fewer moving parts and tend to be quieter and more energy efficient than reciprocating compressors.

Cooling Capacity

The use of “tons” in reference to an air conditioner is not about how heavy it is. It’s a quick way to refer to how much heat your AC can remove in one hour.

The term goes back to the 19th century, when some lucky people cooled their buildings with large blocks of ice. They are connected only in the sense that we use the measure of the amount of energy used to melt one ton of ice in 24 hours in BTUs (British thermal units) to measure the cooling output of modern air conditioners.

Over the years, it just became accepted practice to refer to an air conditioner’s cooling output in tons instead of BTUs per hour. A conditioner that’s rated 1-ton will remove heat from a home at the rate of 12,000 BTUs/hour. You can read more about the physics of this here.
